Yankees are doing good so far against the Rays. Yesterday they won 7 to 2, and currently they are winning 6 to 1 in the top 4th. Pavano is pitching tonight. Yankees need to sweep the Rays.

Pavano gives up a double then a 2-run HR.

6 to 3 Yankees in the bottom 4th.

Did anyone hear those bizarre calls by Sterling. They were playing them on Francesca's show. Two calls of basehits had to be changed to homeruns (Damon and Sheffield). Then Sterling said both were hit so hard and low they barely cleared the fence. Both shots were ordinary flyball homeruns. Sterling was either mailing it in and paying no attention, had a few too many or is in serious need of eyeglasses.

Terry - you've got a lot of faith. Red Sox keep winning and they have a weak schedule with many home games. Seems impossible for the Yankees - unless they catch the Rays in a complete collapse. I don't see them catching Boston.

This series doesn't really mean anything. The Yanks are done unless the Rays pull a met collapse.

Arod hit a high ball and it hit over the foul pole, and it hit something behind it. They will have to go to the Instant Replay. The 3rd baseman said it was a 2-RUN HR, but the Rays say it was a foul ball.

The Umps will be going down to watch the replays to rule if Arod hit a 2-run HR or a foul ball.

Arod got his wish. The umps called it a true HR, and that was a hot hit.

8 to 3 Yankees in the top 9th.

Gotta love Pay-Rod. Meaningless home runs late in each of the last two games. There's never been anyone like him before. He sure can compile empty stats.

Pay Rod is nice, I call him Choke Rod. I'm as big of a Yankee fan as there is, but I can't stand this guy and his stat building ways. Where was this guy when we needed him in August?

I went to the game last night, busting my colleagues about the "coming Yankee sweep". Shoulda kept my mouth shut. In any case it was fun...That said, however, I still cannot believe the lack of fan support for this team. They need to move out of this area. If they can't fill up now, in first place, best record in bball, playing the Yankees....they will never fill it and need to move.

Now, if they DO ever fill that place, there will be chaos all around the stadium. They don't have enough parking for the half full stadium. We had to park on the street...all the lots were full.

It's weird. You can't blame the heat, because they play indoors. Maybe people don't really take them seriously yet and are waiting for them to collapse. Maybe Florida isn't a good market for baseball (people may get their fill w/spring training), because the Marlins can't draw flies either. Granted, they're not nearly as good as Tampa this year, but they have won two World Series and are at least somewhat competitive in many seasons.

I'll tell you one thing, though. It would be a total embarassment for MLB if the Rays make it to the World Series (a distinct possibility) and the place is only 1/2 or 2/3 filled. As a New Jersey Devils fan, I know all too well about poor fan support.

I talked to a bunch of folks about it. some say location is bad. Too hard to get to the stadium area. Relative to Yankee Stadium, its a walk in the park, but these folks found it rough to drive 20 minutes. Another group said they couldnt afford it. its cheap, but lots of fixed income down here. Last group said their is just not much passion for it. who knows?

Yeah, they don't seem to be as passionate about pro sports down there as we are in this area. They really love college sports. I think college football is the big thing down there (SEC country). Even the Dolphins don't sell out anymore (they suck right now, but that's a different story, lol). They did get pretty excited about the Lightning during their Stanley Cup run in 2004 and they were also into the Panthers when they went to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1996. But those teams don't draw when they're not doing well, especially the Panthers.

It's football country. College football is king down there.
