My anemometer is frozen...I would love to get some reports of the winds and gusts...especially along the coast as the wind is supposed to be picking up there.

Mine's frozen over also but all I can tell is that it's starting to get damn windy here and I'm in Freehold so I'm sure closer to the coast it's really starting to pick up...

R, whats the temp up your way now?  We're up over 30 here now, well, 30.5 but still.  I just talked to my friend from AC and he said that the wind's really strong.  That's the only report I got out of him lol.  Check out the pressure on this though,

I'm at 30.5 now.  It looks like a dry slot is splitting the precip up through central nj

It actually just stopped sleeting now and it's just cloudy and breezy.

I live off of 537 a little bit west of the mall near the CentraState Hospitol

Oh, OK I know exactly where that is...ITs weird that your temp there is higher than the temp here...I see that dry slot...its still coming down heavy here.....Have you had any power issues?

Yeah, that is odd but you are north east of me, and the temp did drop to 29.9 lol

This is my first year teaching and I'm glad just to have my first snow day, I'm probably more excited then my kids lol

The precip has all but come to an end and it doesn't look like there is much backlash developing either.  Are you close to the hook?

Yeah, I am on the coast of the Raritan bay and look across to sandy hook....The radar is showing some dry slots i wonder if it is going to fill in.....The power has been flickering here recently as well....temp is 28.9 currently...raised a little more...very strange storm

This is def a very bizarre storm, gotta love the weather, we're down to 29.3 now, sleet looks like it's filling back in but from the looks of the radar doesn't look like there will be too much backlash but you never know with this storm. I'm in grad school at Monmouth and a friend of mine out that way said that the temp went above 32 for about an hour this morning then slipped back below and back to sleet there along the coast in LB.  They canceled classes today too no less.  The power here flickered once or twice, nothing too exciting, but I just heard that an accident took out the traffic light at 9 and Schank Rd closing 9 in both directions so it must be a mess out there on the roads.

With the temp forecasted to drop so low tonight, what's your thoughts on flash freeze/road conditions tomorrow am?

Yeah, my temp has been rising the past hour.. I am now up to 30.3 and I have plain rain coming down which is now freezing on all surfaces....as long as the temp doesnt rise over freezing it looks like it may get bad here soon.    I think tomorrow morning could be an icy mess if they dont get these roads cleared before the temp falls later today...

Yeah, it looks like in your area the sleet is still coming down strong.  Still a lull here

Check out the pressure of this storm, it's the equivalent of a Cat 1 Hurricane!

And the TEMP gradient in the state alone is amazing

Wow...that pressure is crazy!!!

We have changed to plain rain here and the temp is holding at 30.3, so it is freezing on all the surfaces....i looked at the power lines and they are all coated with ice now.,....

Huricaneff--I had to gently tap the anemometer with a long pole to get it to work. It probably still is not completely accurate as there is still ice on the cups.

My anemometer needs a heck of a lot more than tapping to work. It's frozen solid -- in fact, my entire VP2 station is covered in a sheet of ice.

And I'm not about to venture outside to fix it. LOL.
