URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE UPTON NY
1008 AM EST WED FEB 14 2007

...FIRST MAJOR WINTER STORM OF THE SEASON ON TAP THROUGH THIS
EVENING...

.LOW PRESSURE NEAR THE SOUTHER NEW JERSEY COAST...WILL RAPIDLY
DEEPEN AS IT TRACKS NORTHEAST TO NEAR CAPE COD BY THIS
EVENING...AND TO EASTERN MAINE BY THURSDAY MORNING. A MIXTURE OF
SNOW...SLEET... AND FREEZING RAIN ACROSS THE TRI-STATE...WILL
CHANGE OVER TO MAINLY FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET THIS MORNING...FOR
ALL BUT PORTIONS OF THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY. PRIMARILY RAIN WILL
FALL ACROSS EASTERN LONG ISLAND. PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY CHANGE
BACK TO SNOW BEFORE ENDING THIS EVENING.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NO LONGER IN EFFECT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED AN ICE STORM
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON. THE
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

FREEZING RAIN...POSSIBLY MIXED WITH SLEET AT TIMES...WILL FALL THROUGH
MOST OF THIS MORNING AND INTO THIS AFTERNOON. THE HEAVIEST
PRECIPITATION WILL FALL DURING THE MORNING HOURS. ICE ACCRETION OF
ONE-HALF TO THREE-QUARTERS OF AN INCH IS POSSIBLE. AS COLDER AIR
FLOWS BACK INTO THE AREA TOWARD EVENING...THE PRECIPITATION MAY
MIX WITH OR EVEN CHANGE TO WET SNOW BEFORE ENDING IN THE EVENING.

AN ICE STORM WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF ICE ACCUMULATIONS
WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS OR IMPOSSIBLE. TRAVEL IS STRONGLY
DISCOURAGED. COMMERCE WILL LIKELY BE SEVERELY IMPACTED. IF YOU
MUST TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR
VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. ICE ACCUMULATIONS AND WINDS WILL
LIKELY LEAD TO SNAPPED POWER LINES AND FALLING TREE BRANCHES THAT
ADD TO THE DANGER.

Does anyone else here have a weather radio???  If you do have you been receiving the warnings on it...I have one and since yesterday it hasnt gone off like it usually does in the summer when there are thunderstorms.  just wondering if it is my radio or a nws issue.

Passing the doobie at Mount Holly.  I'd love to know how there can be a flood with temps in the teens and 20's in most areas.

They have my couny (Chester, PA) now with a hazardous weather outlook, but then when you click I'm still in a warning...

There is alot of concern here in Westchester about the potential for power outages,  anyone know if any high wind watches are in effect for the tri-state area?
