Eli was awful. I don't think it would have mattered if Plaxico was there or not when your QB throws the ball as badly as Eli threw it today. We seem to be back to the pre Super bowl wobbly & fluttery passes of Eli. I'm starting to think that last years playoff run was a Cinderella story for him.

Sorry but i am right. We were able to bring another man into the box and did not have to double team a wide receiver! that was one thing also turn overs,Ellie not playing well, field position, our defense coming up huge when ding bat Coughlin called TWICE a fourth down try.

It was a combo of things and no PLAX was just one of many problems!

But in all seriousness, both offenses were downright horrible today. Definately a defensive game. 1st half was won by the Giants defense as they held the Eagles to a grand total of 30 yards through most of it and gave their offense SO MANY opportunities. They even held Westbrook to basically nothing. Without the INT by the Eagles in the red zone, they would've been inept. But the Giants offense squandered every opportunity. 2nd half Eagles defense was tremendous and some of the offense started clicking enough to the point to get some points. Not so for the Giants. Can't blame it all on one person. It was everybody. Carney never misses, but missed twice here. If he made both of those the dynamics of the 2nd half would be completely different and maybe the Giants wouldn't have had to go for it on 4th down twice and FAIL both times. I had a HUGE problem with the Giants playcalling. I don't know if Gilbride was calling plays from inside a paper bag or what. Not smart. Needed to balance out a little earlier. Running in situations I believe should've been thrown on and vice-versa. Looked like Eric Mangini out there. Also the receivers. Sure Eli Manning wasn't great and I don't know why but they also couldn't catch anything. Hit a few of them right in the hands or the chest, and dropped them. I think a lot of this has to do with a BYE week and resting the starters in the 2nd half of the Vikings game and losing it. No momentum whatsoever and rust builds up. Same type situation with bowl games in College Football. Too much time off. Yes, the Giants are weaker without Plaxico but they proved they can win without them, when they beat the Panthers to get the #1 seed. Sure he opened up the field but he hasn't been that great this season either. Stupid penalties were another issue. So many little ones that with the experience of the team shouldn't be happening.

And the Eagles were the one team I didn't want the Giants to play. Think it would've been a different story against Arizona. But hey what do I know.

i was one of the few giants fans that said it would be tough to go all the way without plaxico,
and having to play the eagles in the first round was my biggest fear. i know it was a combination of bad play calling
and missed field goals, but not having a superstar like plaxico to bail you out like last year was too much too overcome
against that tough eagles defense.

Eli was bad but the playcalling was atrocious. Gilbride needs to go. THREE passes on 1st and 5 during that sequence at the end of the first half? REALLY? Why do they go away from the run when it's working? Why no play-action? It's too bad because I thought the defense played pretty well aside from that 3rd and 20 when they let Philly get the first down. Oh, well. It's difficult to repeat. Congrats to the Eagles. Could very well be an all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl, but then again who knows? It's been a crazy postseason and that probably won't change next week.

FALSE. His stats may not have shown it, but Burress always drew a double (or sometimes triple) team. Without him, Ward, Bradshaw and most importantly eli had more people to worry about on defense. Dominick Hickson didn't draw the same attention Burress did, sorry. Giants were 1-4 without him. I dont think that was a coincedense.

I agree with points made about the playcalling but I honestly think some of it was due to the Giants losing faith in Eli the more the game went on. On 4th and 3 late in the game they didn't even pass. That tells you how little trust they had in him by that point in the game.
