Upton seems pretty confident of a light snow event late Saturday night and Sunday; maybe another similar one mid-week next week. Mount Holly also sees the Saturday night clipper as a light event but mentions there are some signals of possibly a coastal trying to develop. Low chance of that but they menion.

Yeh Robbbs I saw that Mt. Holly discussion. They have me for 40% chance. In their "speak" 40% is fairly aggressive this far out.  It would be minor any way...unless a coastal forms...

Anyway, I'm all worn out, but at least we have something to watch.

ps - I don't like the warming trend next week at all.

It's been a solid month of below normal temps since the pattern change in mid January, and we probably have below seasonal until the end of the month so that's a pretty good six week run. March seems to be in doubt now, with some believing that it will be above normal and others not.

Oh, no doubt Robbbs, it was a great run. I hit 40 F on Friday and I don't believe that I had hit 40 since 1/15.

A snowfall at the beginning of the cold spell would have lasted a long time.

Robbbs - a technical question, the precip last night, was that wrap-around (backlash) from the cyclone or was it a trailing trough (remnants of the upper level low)?

It was a great run of below-normal temps. to be sure(the best in two years, I think) but it's hard to believe we got so little out of it in terms of snowfall;. yesterday's mixed bag and a couple clipper systems.  Oh, well.  Maybe we'll get lucky in the next three or four weeks; if not, it's onto looking forward to spring...thunderstorm season!

I believe it was related to the upper level low. The wrap around precip would have come earlier as the low was bombing to our east. I really busted on that as I thought all of us would see some intense backlash snows for a few hours and even the coast would get 4"+ after the sleet/rain. Never happened unfortunately.

Thanks for the answer. I thought so, but wasn't sure.

Yeh, the wraparound was just north of us.  Some decent radar in SE NY State yesterday afternoon.  That last wrap-around band came through here at the same time; but I only saw flurries from it.

Perhaps the greatest sleet storm I've ever seen here, and I'm pushing 5-Oh.

50 is the new 30. LOL. I think there's a lot of truth in that as people are living longer and healthier.

Vic, JB really jumped on the rain train early for the mid-week system next week saying rain from NYC south and "wet snow" for the interior northeast and seemed very confident on that. Hmmm.

I don't care if NYC is in the rain for next storm as long as NW NJ and PA are in the snow as the family and I have a ski weekend @ Shawnee Mountain. This weekend should be good @ Mountain Creek though....Conditions are excellent from what I hear..

yea i am taking my son to belleayre mountain this monday should be great!!!!

and robbbs i am totally stunned how JB mentions heavy rain as he does these days, he would have never done that years ago, even when the weather was mild with rain, he would write something in his blog to make you think it may still be a frozen event :D

Maybe we should continue to ignore it and see what happens!
