Is it possible to walk from the beach to the amphitheatre? Going to see dave matthews band next Wednesday and i would like to hit the beach first. Is it possible to park at the beach and leave the car through the concert? I've been there twice for concerts but never to the beach. Also Is Mulcahy's pretty cool for doing some pregame drinking? How far is that?

Satellite if you park in field 5 you can walk to the theater and the beach. Beach parking I'm fairly certain closes at midnight. Mulcahys is about 15 minutes from Jones Beach and convenient. Just get on the Wantagh Parkway and head to the beach. The parkway entrance is very close to the pub.

weatherbowl - just looking at a map of the area and it looks like you can drive to fire island? I never knew that was possible. How long do you think that would take from the Jones Beach area? Just curious.

Yep field 5 you can get to both.

Mulcahy's,great club.It is only about a mile for my house,use to go there alot.Best way to get thier from the beach is take Wantagh Parkway north to the very first exit which is merrick road(27a).At the light you go straigh across,that is wantagh ave.take that across sunrise hwy which will be your first light,after the traffic light you make the first right and Mulcahy's is right on that corner across from the train station(if you go under the train tressel you went to far.Parking can be a pain in the ***,but being a weeknight it should not be to bad.Also I would say you should try the Wantagh Inn another great bar it is on the same block as Mulcahy's,just a few doors down.

Without traffic you can get from the beach to Mulcahy's,in 5-10 minutes

Nice thanks for all info. Leaving in a few hours since it's nice day. Gonna check the area out a little and hit the beach before the show. I've seen concerts there twice but never did anything else.

Aride along ocean parkway is nice.I do that when ever im bored or go to robert moses stae park(My favorite spot for coastal storms) durung nor'easters.Ocean parkway runs right along the atlatic ocean.The dunes block most of the view but some spots you have a great view.

Also if you want a great hamburger you got to try All American which is on Merrick road in Massapequa.It's about 10 minutes east of the Wantagh parkway.But if you go got to warn you it is ussally packed!!

Had a great day. Drove ocean pkwy to Fire Island (Robert Moses Park). Checked out the beach then headed to Mulcahys. Had to wait for it to open so had a drink at the Wantagh Inn which is a nice place. Really cool bar. Wasn't impressed with Mulchay's. Thought more people would be hanging out but i guess it's more of a late night place. From there hung out on Jones beach for a while (lot 6) then drove to lot 5 did some tailgating and went to the show. Perfect night for a concert.
