A Hot and humid day here today, was literally dripping with sweat washing to car this afternoon.

SPC Updated the threat for our area, mainly NE NJ, slight chance for damaging winds

Had a thunderstorm just brush where I work around 3 30. Cleared out just in time for my commute home though so I was happy about that. Much as I love thunderstorms I'm not crazy enough to want to be out in one. Especially as there was a fair amount of lightning.

It's just damned hot out there now. Temp up to 88.3 right now. I wouldn't bet against 90.

Just called the NWS. Definitely had rotation in the sky to my NW.
Now the storm is JUST A HAIR to my NE, intense CTG lightning all around me, but no rain here.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning and definitely warranted one because NE Queens (Throgs Neck Bridge) into NW Nassau County are getting it bad.

I know. It's unreal. I was really trying to be critical of what I was seeing and thinking..trying to dismiss the rotation that was going on but I couldn't dismiss it, all the "finger" clouds seemed to be dancing around a central point..It was really obvious, so I called the NWS just to let them know, I did have a great view because I was clearly out of the precipitation.
Residents on Little Neck/Douglaston, and into Great Neck and Manhasset in Nassau County got slammed with this one...the CTG lightning was intense where I was and I wasn't even under the storm.

Nada down here in SC so far. 91 degree day, 86 degree ocean, 79 DP at 6PM, 103 HI and still all the T-storms died inland. Ocean water feels like it's heated from underneath. I went in late when the temp was 89 and the water felt warmer than the air.

Carolina Roadhouse. It was great and even in a terrible economy it's amazing how busy that place is. On my agenda is:

NY Prime (never miss it)
Divine Prime (new and supposedly great)
Parsons Table
Thoroughbreds
Greg Normans
Some fancy spot on Pawley's Island with friends down here

and oh yes The Outback as we have a $10 coupon plus my wife loves their lobster tails and it's a regional item on the menu here. Tommy Bahama is also possible.

81 here with a 75 DP right now. Some distant lightning far offshore and some towering thunderheads floating by. Beautiful sky.

Some places have closed down here, including Cagney's which was well known but I always considered it a tourist trap. It's not a given that a restaurant will do well because it's in a vacation spot. Condo rentals here are down and I got 25% off the normal seasonal price.
