Dominos have begun to fall.
Phillies get Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco for a bunch of good prospects. Great deal for them. Lets see if this causes the rest of the secondary deals to go. I would guess that the Yanks and Red Sox are playing a game of chicken on Halladay. Neither will win, but both will be huge losers if they worry so much about each other that they don't move on the next deal for a guy like Washburn or Arroyo.
Seattle appears to be buying. They added two Pirates...who are always selling....Jack Wilson and Ian Snell. That might mean that Washburn will stay put until the waiver deals next month.

Gotta love the poker game. Theo is making eyes at Victor Martinez now instead of Halliday. Bluff? Real deal? They do need offense and they had some rumors a few days back. If the Sox get Martinez, does that open Halliday for the Yanks just a bit cheaper?
I love the trade deadline, but am always disappointed when most of the deals turn out to be just rumor. Wish it was as easy as trading baseball cards was back in the day.

the Dodgers have announced that they are out of the Halliday sweepstakes. Leaves Boston and Yanks.
As the gap widens, I can see Theo developing an itchy trigger finger, but I doubt he can afford both Halliday and Victor Martinez. He better focus, he is running out of time.

Mets, Indians and Rays talking a 3 team deal?

I would love to have either Crawford, Kazmir or Victor Martinez on the team. I heard that the Rays offered Kazmir to the Mets. I hope it happens.

There is a reason why were shopping Kazmir. He has been struggling all season and his salary is hurting us so it would be smart to deal him. BTW, Crawford is likely to get an extension by the end of the season I doubt he will get traded that would hurt us in the long run.

Lets hope that Martinez does not give the Sox the same kind of lift that Bay did last year. They have again out maneuvered the Yanks at the deadline, but deals are always risky. Sometimes what seems like a no brainer turns out to be a bad move.
This deal will force either Lowell or Ortiz to the bench. That might hurt the chemistry of the team...though you wouldn't know it by this weekend.
