these storms seem to be moving very fast. Breezy here with distant thunder. Looks like the main part of this storm will go to my north, as usual.

House is shaking from the thunder. Lightning is VERY close to the ground, lighting up the whole house as if the strike was a few hundred feet from the windows. Torrential rain, didn't see any hail but my sister said she saw it.
Lightning every 2-5 seconds with this one and the winds were howling.
Who evers in the path of this one watch out.

Just had a CTG lightning bolt that brought the longest rolling thunder I've heard this summer.

Most of the time they are pure shotgun pop but I've heartd what you are describing and I'll bet it's multiple bolts, or a multiple split of one central bolt that fans out just above the ground. Instead of getting the rolling garage door thuinder aloft we are used to we get the much louder version just over your rooftop. Some of the thuinder I was initially hearing tonite was like that and then it just died as if someone shut off a switch.

It was shotgun initially but just continued rolling for over a minute it seemed.
The CTC lightning was continuous with intermittent CTG strikes, but when you had a CTG strike you knew it was close. And most of the CTG strikes started off as CTC strikes and became CTG. Very cool storm to watch. Violet echoes over all of NE Queens. Probably some trees down, will check tomorrow.
Did hear plenty of sirens, must have been from a lightning strike in the area.
