Saw this link on Eastern and I have to say if JB was indeed calling this overall pattern and future predictions early on like he says he did, then he really nailed this global pattern and it's slow changes. Hopefully he's right about winter. Love hm or hate him this is very well done, shows deep and broad weather knowledge explained pretty easily and a great call on the tropical pattern also. I also agree with him completely on his global warming comments.

Great video.

I do like JB.The only thing that annoys me about him is his over hyping events.I wonder if he did not have a paysite if his calls would be less hyped.

He has great knowledge of the weather, and knows how to explain things in a way you can understand if your not an expert on weather.he is one of the best out there, just wish he would forecast with less hype that he uses to get people on his/accuweather paysite.

I know you guys like to kid around him, but he has a pretty good batting average in general terms on that video.

Pretty good? On that video he's fabulous and I think he handles himself so much better then the headline grabbing flamethrower he shows to be on every storm. I'm sure that's the side of JB jimrin is often alluding to.

He nailed this summer; missed horrendously on last winter's seasonal outlook as well as on numerous mid-term forecasts and individual events of that winter.

Robbbs,

You can see from that video how he's so much into using the analogs for all his larger scale predictions. I almost sensed from that video that he's now realizing he needs to look for the differences in little details in those analogs that can make the outlooks vary so much as opposed to assuming they'll fall into place based on the bigger picture.

Absolutely. Joe understands more about how the atmosphere works than anyone I have ever met or dealt with in my life. His grasp of how long range patterns evolve and affect future patterns is almost scary. I learned so much about weather from him. I used to write forecasts for him when he was still doing radios and you had better have your sh!t together if you're writing for JB because he'll nail you to the wall if you don't. But what was cool was even if he didn't agree with your forecast; if you had solid meteorological reasoning behind it; he would respect you. But it was the same then...the closer an individual event got, the more off the deep end he would go. And he really isn't hyping for the videos and column. I know everyone thinks that. But believe it or not he's actually more mellow on the videos than he used to be in house! But don't ever confuse busted point forecasts with JB not being a good meteorologist.
