Another feeble tropical storm has been named. It is expected to be gone in 2 days.

They are padding that storm count with the most faceless storms ever seen. I've come to two conclusions about trops systems.
1. Cat 5 s/b dropped to 150mph which happens to be the strength of it's Pacific sibling the super Typhoon.
2. A storm should have a 49+mph wind to get a name especially given that these small storms have so little area coverage of 40mph winds and I'll bet you they are not sustained but only gusts that will be weaker than our widespread winds tomorrow. I've seen too many 40mph storms that never got stronger named the past 10 years and it just seems to pad storm counts and waste money and endanger folks for fly-ins. In the past these storms were never even observable, let alone named so you have apples to oranges comparisons to distant seasons as well.
