And that's not lake effect. Valdez snow is high density ocean snow and can be wet snow too. It also rains up there sometimes in winter. Average temps are probably like Albany NY. They can get over 400" in a season.
Meanwhile in Barrow, they are still not in pure darkness. They've long lost the sun but they still get brightening dusk conditions each day. Looks real pretty and the snow covered ocean is really bright and reflective. They keep making a big snow mountain by the ocean near that light on the right and then taking it away. Where they take it is is anyone's guess but they certainly can't dump it into the ocean.
