It appears there are many similarities with this administration and the previous. For example, we are still at war in an area that is questionable as to whether we should be there. The head of Homeland Security is under fire and the top intelligence agencies are still not communicating. The President is criticized for not responding quickly to this last terrorist attempt. Maybe if we can get past the Health Care Bill, more attention will be paid to terrorism. This last attempt was way to close to being a real disaster, hopefully it is a wake up call.

It took Bush 6 days to respond to the shoe bomber. Not using that as an excuse. But you can't complain about one and not about the other.
Also while 3 days is a long time, it is better to address the country with valid information than not know the facts, imo. Should he have done it sooner, yes.

But yes there are a lot of similarities because people, no matter what they say, don't really welcome change. And once he got into office he realized that and saw how much of a task it would really be to bring actual change.

Also from what I've read, it really wasn't failed policy that let this almost happen. It was the execution of the policy. This should've been easily detected by any airport security, but someone in Amsterdam let the ball drop.

And like you said the communication between the agencies. Because there were warnings that he was part of al-Qaeda, even coming from his father.

It certainly is difficult to bring change, I'm sure President Obama, like all Presidents, is finding that out everyday. The problem with change, of coarse, is many people don't like the changes that are attempting to be made. Then the fighting begins. One change I wish would take hold is more communication between our intelligence agencies. As was pointed out tonight by Richard Clark on ABC, these agencies are communicating today the same way as during 911, and that was very little.

I honestly don't know how there isn't. The two most vital agencies to the protection of the country and they act like children. I read a lot there is almost a competition between the two. And no one ever really talks about it either. It just gets brushed aside.
