Europe has been getting snow too (not just the mountains). This blocking pattern in the north is effecting everyone it seems like.

London is in for a huge snowstorm......lots of snow. Anyone traveling there is in for massive delays, if not cancellations. Also, blowing and drifting of the snow as well. Congrats Londoners!!!!

Reading some of the forecasts, London itself probably won't get more than say 3-6", but northern England could see as much as 18".

And the whole time I lived there I was lucky if I got 2 inches of snow. Mind you, whenever we would get a little snow, it seemed like the whole city came to a big standstill because they don't know how to drive in snow! We don't get much snow there! LOL

The best forecast I had seen in London when I lived there was "freezing fog"

Currently (noon report) it's 34 with snow in London. I don't know how much snow they received overnight and this morning, but add that to the 1" to 3" forecast for this afternoon and 1" tonight. Highs tomorrow will remain below freezing so the snow is not going away quickly. I've probably been to London more than two dozen times in my life and I have never experienced temps even in the 30's there. This has got to be bloody unusual for them. Keep a stiff upper lip and all that chaps. Great city, great country, great people. As they say about the US and England -- two great countries separated by a common language. Always had trouble understanding what they were saying but I suppose they felt the same about me.

LOL. Thanks for your kind words Robbbs. And you're right about the language difference. I still get a kick out of coming with a word or phrase that leaves you guys scratching your head and saying "huh?"
