The average high temperature at this time of year in Vancouver is about 46-47 degrees. I only bring this up because I keep hearing how mild it is their and the media acts like they are in some big mild trend. It is not a very cold place, the mountains where the Olympics are, that is the snowy area.

It's the warmest place the olympics have ever been held. Indoor events are held in Vancouver and a lot of the ski events are held at Cypress mtn which is actually on about 4700'. You are right - relative to average it's not a big deal the type of wx they are having. However i do imagine it's not normal to have trees blossoming in mid-Feb. I could be wrong. I am surprised at the overall lack of snow. I had been checking the Whistler snow report for years and never saw rain mentioned, plus their snow totals are insane. I have yet to see a flake fall in the 8 days of watching the olympics. I know Jfar is over there. I'm curious to see what he has to say when he gets back.
