Lets see how wild this free agency gets...

jets are handcuff to sign any free agent until they loose one of their own in the market. There are rumors that they might resign RB TJ, WR coles, and TE Baker. They also interested in WR Marshall from broncos for first round picks..

Giants are interested in LB dansby from Arizona but will not overspend in this free agency.

Man I wish the Jets had a shot at Julius Peppers. What a player he is. Imagine him and a healthy Kris Jenkins on the same line.

Ice, i really truly believe that they would have gone after him if they werent handcuff with this rule. He would have been awsome with kris and he would have extra time to get to QB because of Revis can cover. Houston texans have release CB daunte robinson. lets see if jets can go after him as well. I heard he will be upgrade over what jets had last year. Jets will have chance to upgrade their defense this offeason regardless of this rule. They cant get everybody lol but they will have chance to get even better on defense...

Lot of salary money is going to go to those two though. Think I'd prefer a power runner and killer pass rusher.

After pepper, i didnt think there were alot of options. However, if secondary give extra time to their current DE and LB then maybe they will have better sucess. Plus, they will have kris back for the whole year. Second year in Rex system will also help. lets what else happens this offseason. Regardless they will be better on defense.

The New York Giants have made Antrel Rolle the richest safety in NFL history.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported Friday night that the Giants signed Rolle to a five-year, $37 million contract with $15 million guaranteed, according to a league source. Rolle is due $22.5 million in the first three years of the deal.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus tweeted the announcement late Friday, offering his personal congratulations to Rolle on becoming "the highest paid safety in NFL history!"

"I'm ecstatic," Rolle said after signing his contract around 11:15 p.m. ET. "Words can't really express how I feel now. I had five great years with the Cardinals organization. But I felt it was time for a change. The Giants are a first-class organization all the way. There are great opportunities for me, and I am excited to be working with the players I'll be working with. I think the sky's going to be the limit as to what we can do.

"I'm extremely excited for the opportunity, and I feel truly blessed. They have the confidence I can come in and be the player that they expect me to be, and I will live up to everything they expect and go beyond."

The signing fills a major need for the Giants, who lost Kenny Phillips to a serious knee injury early last season. Phillips is expected back this season, and having the two University of Miami products deep in the secondary should help a defense that struggled in 2009.

"Antrel is a young, ascending veteran player, and he is an outstanding person who will bring leadership, versatility and more big play ability to our secondary," Giants general manager Jerry Reese said.

Rolle, who was recently released by the Cardinals, had four interceptions last season. The one that impressed the Giants the most came in late October when he stepped in front of Steve Smith to intercept Eli Manning's pass around the Cardinals' 21-yard line with 68 seconds to play to nail down a 24-17 Arizona victory.

New York had driven from its own 1-yard line in the final three minutes in an attempt to tie the score.

Arizona, which also lost linebacker Karlos Dansby to the Miami Dolphins late Friday, released Rolle on Thursday because it wanted to avoid paying him the $4 million roster bonus and the $8 million salary he was due. However, the battle for Rolle came down to the Giants and Cardinals, and Rolle chose New York after visiting with the team most of Friday.

Rolle was Arizona's first-round pick, the eighth selection overall, out of Miami in 2005. He began his pro career as a cornerback, but he had most of his success after being switched to safety in 2008.

In 68 regular-season games, 59 as a starter, Rolle has 12 interceptions, four forced fumbles and 1.5 sacks. In six playoff games, Rolle has one interception and one fumble recovery.

laughable!!

The Jets fronted Antonio Cromartie $500,000 of his 2010 salary to help him clean up his lingering paternity issues, a person close to Cromartie told The Post last night.
Cromartie, 25, who's due to make $1.7 million this season in the final year of his five-year, $12 million contract, has some outstanding paternity payments to make.
Because players don't begin collecting on their salary until the first week of the regular season, Cromartie needed money now to make the payments he needs to make.
That's when the Jets stepped in and helped, according to a report that originated from the NFL Network.

Joseph E. Amaturo
PARENTAL HELP: According to a person close to Antonio Cromartie, the cornerback was fronted $500,000 of his 2010 salary by the team to clean up his lingering paternity issues.
A Jets spokesman, reached last night, said the team doesn't comment on player contracts, and it would not confirm or deny this unusual measure it's taken.

But the person close to Cromartie praised the Jets for their help.

"This is his unfortunate burden and he's taking care of it," the person said, referring to Cromartie's child-support issues. "He's got some time constraints on payments and [the Jets] did help him out with that. They've certainly helped with everything and that's going to make life easier for him."

The day after the Jets traded for Cromartie, Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum talked about being supportive of their new cornerback, who has the significant burden of supporting seven children by six different mothers in five different states.

"We're looking forward to him having a fresh start here with us and we're going to work with Antonio collaboratively to make sure we can do everything we can organizationally to give him the best chance to be successful," Tannenbaum said. "We're looking forward to working together in that partnership."

Tannenbaum and the Jets already have backed those words up.

During a Friday conference call with reporters, Cromartie spoke of how he had to clear up his paternity issues before he can report to the start of the offseason program on March 22.

"I have seven kids in five different states," Cromartie said. "I made some wrong decisions my first two years in the NFL, and now I have to take that responsibility to be a father.

"I need to deal with my kids and child-support issues," he added. "Those things are being taken care of. I'm going to be the best father to them that I can."

Cromartie has a court date in California later this month.

Tannenbaum on Friday said the cornerback "has some work to do" and needs to "tie up some loose ends" before he can report to the Jets' offseason-conditioning program.

Cromartie said Friday the child-support issues will not be a distraction.

"It won't impact my focus on the field," he said. "I can separate my personal life and off-field issues from football."
