Georgia police confirmed Friday evening they are investigating Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in connection to a sexual assault complaint.
The assault allegedly took place Friday morning at the Capitol City night club in Milledgeville, Georgia. The police confirmed that Roethlisberger was with three friends at the time and they interviewed Roethlisberger at the club shortly after the alleged incident.

the "race card" is flyin all over the place with this one. seems some want what happened to vick to be the same fate for ben. last i checked vick was proven guilty in a court while ben was accused. i think ben needs to reevaluate where he is in his career, and stop finding this chicks in bars to screeww. people or looking for roger to do something to him, or else its a race thing. i dont know the rules for the players, but if he did violate some conduct rules, then he needs to pay. not sure what the rules would say about having a one night stand though?

interesting, trade a 2 time sb champ qb, with brass ones on the field for accusations. bens stupidity astounds me, but i'm not sure where to place this? if he really is a rapist he needs to pay for his crimes, if he is simply sleepin with chicks as a 28 single man does (unlike the married ones that cheet on their wives) he is now the whipin post for keep it in ur pocket? heck clinton played cigar games in the oval, cheated on his wife, and lied to the public and everyone loves him. strange crazy world.

excerpt from wiki..... love how they make it a race thing
"The incident has also garnered media attention for the potential discrepancies in player treatment based on race, as black players like Michael Vick (KILLED countless animals and was convicted) and Adam "Pacman" Jones (involved around shootings, duis, spitting on people, PLEA deals etc.) were disciplined harshly for their off-the-field conduct.[96] "

I am with Ray on this one. I'm not condoning Ben's actions, but the legal and justice system couldn't find cause to penalize him. Yet the holier-than-thou NFL levies a 6-game suspension? I'm not behind that.

I know what you guys are saying, but its because of who he is that there were no charges filed for serving a minor.

Do we know that he bought her drinks? Wasn't she drunk already? When you are at a bar partying should you check the ID of every girl you talk to? Ben obviously needs to use better judgement and not put himself in those situations but to throw 100% of the blame on him is wrong imo. No one knows what happened in that bathroom but just the fact that the girl went in there with him says something. Again that doesn't give him a ticket to do whatever he wants but it still says something. I was thinking a 2 game susp not a 6.

i agree with a suspension, 6 a bit much imo, but he needs to step up and show some better judgement. i hope they don't trade him, he's not repaceable at this point and the steelers are an org that can change a person or as tomlin says....i deal with you until i can replace you. trading him would be foolish, he didn't kill anyone/animal like some present players have.
the girl imo, is a bit of a who-re. did she think she was going to help him pull up his pants in the bathroom? chicks should know to stay out of guys b-rooms, at least go to the car in the parking lot for a quicky...geez!
ben is not responsible for checking id either, thats the bars responsibility.
am i buying a #7 jersey for my son?? nope. i already told him he was in trouble and he needs to behave better, as a person...which brings us to the nfl policy. i like what the commish said to ben in the letter. they as players need to show good judgement on and off field. ben is 28 not 18, act like a 28 y.o. and show some clear judgement.

Roethlisberger: Won’t appeal suspension
By ALAN ROBINSON, AP Sports Writer
14 hours, 5 minutes ago
Buzz up! 499 PrintPITTSBURGH (AP)—A chastened Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger(notes) accepted his six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy Monday and promised to “comply with what is asked of me—and more.”
In his first comments since the NFL handed down the penalty last week, Roethlisberger apologized to his teammates and fans for his behavior last month in a Georgia bar, where a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexual assault.
“The commissioner’s decision to suspend me speaks clearly that more is expected of me. I am accountable for the consequences of my actions. Though I have committed no crime, I regret that I have fallen short of the values instilled in me by my family,” Roethlisberger said in the statement.
Roethlisberger was cleared of charges, but commissioner Roger Goodell cracked down on one of his biggest stars because “you are held to a higher standard as an NFL player, and there is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville (Ga.) that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible, or consistent with either the values of the league of the expectations of our fans.”
The two-time Super Bowl winner said that while it will be “devastating” to miss games, “I will not appeal the suspension and will comply with what is asked of me—and more,” he said.
“I am sorry to let down my teammates and the entire Steelers fan base. I am disappointed that I have reached this point and will not put myself in this situation again,” Roethlisberger said. “I appreciate the opportunities that I have been given in my life and will make the necessary improvements.”
Roethlisberger is the first player suspended by Goodell under the conduct policy who hasn’t been arrested or charged with a crime. Goodell said the league’s conduct policy gave him the right to impose discipline regardless of whether Roethlisberger broke the law.
“In your six years in the NFL, you have first thrilled and now disappointed a great many people,” Goodell wrote. “I urge you to take full advantage of this opportunity to get your life and career back on track.”
The suspension can be reduced to four games if Roethlisberger completes an evaluation mandated by the league, any action that is mandated by that evaluation and he remains out of trouble. He can practice during training camp and play in preseason games, but cannot return to game action until at least Oct. 17.
Until now, he has sat out only eight games in six seasons due to injury or to rest up for the playoffs.
Goodell also said he has the right to extend the suspension if he learns of any additional problems.
Roethlisberger was not available Monday for further comment. Because he cannot work out or train with his teammates until the league clears him after behavioral evaluations, he will not take part in the team’s mandatory three-day minicamp this weekend.
Roethlisberger was cleared of charges because a prosecutor said the case was not strong enough to pursue, but the quarterback was rebuked by authorities, Goodell and Steelers president Art Rooney II. Georgia prosecutor Fred Bright was especially harsh, telling the quarterback, “Grow up … cut it out. You can do better.”
Roethlisberger also is being sued in a civil case in Nevada for an alleged sexual assault that occurred there in 2008. There were no charges brought in that case, and Rooney II said it did not factor in the NFL’s suspension.
This is the second such apology by Roethlisberger in three weeks. He read a similar statement on April 12 when he learned he would not be charged.
In her statement to police, the underage college student said Roethlisberger encouraged her and her friends to take numerous shots of alcohol. She was later escorted down a hallway at the nightclub, where she said the quarterback exposed himself. She said she tried to leave and went to a bathroom, but Roethlisberger followed her.
“I still said no, this is not OK, and he then had sex with me,” she wrote.
Rooney was so angry with Roethlisberger he wanted to suspend him before the league acted, but didn’t do so because the NFL players union could have appealed to a special master. The Steelers have since taken their first tentative steps toward reconciliation: director of football operations Kevin Colbert said the quarterback “deserves the opportunity” to rehabilitate himself.

talk radio has been a buzz the past few weeks that there has to be more about ben that hasn't been brought to public knowledge. this may be the tip of the iceberg. this ****** better change and change fast!
Roethlisberger wasn't a popular Steeler, even before all this

Some former Pittsburgh Steelers teammates are kicking Ben Roethlisberger(notes) while he's down, telling ESPN that Roethlisberger wasn't well-liked in the locker room while they were there.
Kelly Naqi did a story for ESPN's "Outside the Lines" this weekend, focusing on Roethlisberger's image and reputation. She talked to former Steelers running back Najeh Davenport(notes), former Steelers safety about Mike Logan(notes), and some other people around the area. Here are some of the highlights.
• Davenport estimated that about 60 percent of the locker room felt like Roethlisberger thought he was "bigger than the team," and not focused on winning.
• Davenport also discussed a time when Joey Porter(notes) called out Roethlisberger in a team meeting for being the last one in to practice and the first one to leave. Porter also accused Roethlisberger of not being dedicated to the team, and criticized him for not fraternizing with his teammates.
• Mike Logan confirmed the incident where Porter addressed Roethlisberger, and said that all the things Porter mentioned were already being talked about in the locker room.
• Someone identified only as "a close friend of a Steelers player" said that the reason Roethlisberger had a bodyguard was because of an incident where a man put a gun to Roethlisberger's head because Roethlisberger was involved with the man's girlfriend.
• Naqi spoke with people who work at Pittsburgh bars and nightclubs, and they described Ben as someone who was condescending to the staffs and rude to other customers. One bar owner said Roethlisberger always expected he and his entourage to be given free food and drinks.
Roethlisberger wouldn't talk to ESPN for the story, and neither would Joey Porter. Roethlisberger did release a statement today about his suspension, though, apologizing to his teammates and fans and vowing to comply with the terms of the suspension.
This is the kind of report that wouldn't ever see the light of day if there weren't some other dastardly story about the guy. That's not to say that it isn't true -- Kelly Naqi's a fine reporter -- but is it a big deal? Should we care?
After all, no one said anything about Roethlisberger-related locker room troubles when the Steelers were winning Super Bowls. Maybe this is just a mountain-out-of-a-molehill thing that surfaces now, because it's convenient and fits the "Roethlisberger as dirtball" narrative.
If there's any practical issue here, I think it's this: If Roethlisberger has to mend some fences in the Steelers locker room, perhaps it'll be even tougher than expected. If someone didn't like him before the sexual assault allegations, it's hard to imagine they'll warm up to the guy now, no matter what he does.
We'll just have to wait and see how that plays out. Locker rooms have been divided over less.

well then many more in the nfl would have to go, which if that is how they ran things...fine. he is a disgrace not convicted of any crime like lewis, vick, pacman are a few, that have done/involved in convicted matters. now that all this is aired out i'm sure lil ben will be getting heat in the locker room now. i bet rooney is giving the green light to some of the team leaders to light an enferno under his azz. ship up or shape out is where ben is going to have to do now.
