Even I need to think it through except for the 1 spot. That always has and always will be The Righteous Bros - Unchained Melody. Only Bobby Hadfield can sing that song.

Top ten is tough. But my all-time favorite song is "Waiting for my Real Life to Begin" by Colin Hay.

Pop-Rock list of my personal favorites (I'm not going for cultural social/impact here).

Here's my swag at it.

Top ten:
1. She Loves You - Beatles - (best opening hook ever, they didn't have to pay kids to scream; exhuberant throughout)

2. Jealous Guy - Lennon - (John at his introspective best)

3. Strawberry Fields - Beatles - (beautiful, intense, and creative; and all in the same song)

4. Guns of Brixton - Clash - ("When they kick out your front door..." say no more, love these guys)

5. Yesterday - Beatles - (the most covered song ever, for good reason; the perfect song)

6. Redemption Song - Marley - ("We've got to fulfill dee boook..." a great, great vocalist)

7. If I Should Fall Behind - Bruce - (not a big Bruce fan, but this one is a true gem, should become a standard)

8. Build Me Up Buttercup - Foundations - (great R&B by a group no one knows of, loaded with hook after hook after hook)

9. Highway Star - Deep Purple - (prototypical, driving heavy metal, Lord's distorted organ, Blackmore's solo, and Gillian's vocal really make this for me)

10. Stairway to Heaven - Zeppelin - (pretentious, and sure it's "played out," but for good reason)

Honorable mentions:
Good Vibrations - Beach Boys - (masterpiece of catchy hooks, and what a novel arrangement)

Born on the Bayou - Creedence - (the groove gets to me every single time)

Oh Pretty Woman - Orbison - (fine vocal performance of his catchy, quirky composition)

Bridge Over Troubled Waters - Simon and G - (a standard, for good reason)

California Dreamin' - Mommas and P - (this song captures an era, at least for me)

God Only Knows - Beach Boys - (sounds great, even just the isolated vocal track)

Black Magic Woman - Santana - (Oh Carlos! What a sound and arrangement; the segue into Gypsy Queen adds intensity)

Purple Haze - Hendrix - (from the opening two notes, rock would never be the same; died too young)

Daniel - Elton John - (touching song, in fact a classic; before he went too sappy/commercial)

Penny Lane - Beatles - (Paul at his best, and that says something)

#9 Dream - Lennon - (so, so, so dreamy Lennon; ahh bowa kowa pusse pusse...)

Remember - Harry Nilson - (from his 1972 Son of Schmilson album; many watching "You've Got Mail" in 1998 wondered where this touching song came from)

Have to give it some thought to narrow it down...and it probably constantly changes with my current mood, circumstances, and, yes, even the weather. From the lists above, it's obvious we have a "classic rock" crowd in here.

Definitely my favorite genre. I enjoy some of today's music, but IMHO most of it pales to the songs of yesteryear.

But I have to add in Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman's - Time to say goodbye. Classically great song that will live forevere. From a pure musical standpoint - Chariots of Fire, Theme from a Summer place and St Elmos fire. Purely clasical - Titanic soundtrack (the most hauntingly beautiful music I've ever heard) and everyone's favorites - Lara's theme from DR Zhivago, Godfather theme, Gone with the wind's theme and the Marlboro theme from the Magnificent 7. Plus how can I forget Willy Nelson's You were always on my mind. Just shows you how much great music is out there.

I'm a huge fan of NFL Films music as well, especially the old Sam Spence tracks. Great stuff.

I'd have to put Journey (with Steve Perry, one of my favorite groups ever) and "When you love a woman" way up there too.

BTW anyone old enough to remember the old WABC 77 (or WA Beatle C as cousin Brucie called it) it's sad to say that DJ Ron Lundy just died.

Yeah, and Dan Ingram. I'm sure they turned some of the Beatle songs into "turntable hits" in this area. Remember their competitor, the WMCA "good guys"?
Scott Muni from the WNEW FM line-up died a few years ago.

Jack Spector was a "goog guy" on WMCA. Biggest DJ of that era though was on WINS (most folks here probably can't believe 1010 Wins was once a great music radio station). Remember Murray the K? He was close to the Beatles and was nicknamed the 5th Beatle.

Its so funny how many people I know who heard Overkill for the firs time on Scrubs. It was the first single from Colin's band, Men at Work's Cargo album in 1983. Obviously, its one of those songs with true timelessness and staying power.

Speaking of music, a funny video spoof on the Beatles:

Of course i always knew who Men at Work were but never realized that's where Colin Hay was from. Actually never even heard of him until now. Was just watching some of his solo acoustic stuff on youtube. Pretty good stuff.

Reminded me a little bit of some Dave Matthews solo stuff. This is one of my favorites. The Stone from Charlie Rose over 10 years ago. Great lyrics and cool rhythm guitar work. This song gives me chills.

Here's a fun one too. An Elvis cover.

That's a pretty diverse list, actually. You have a little bit of everything. I love Kings of Leon; old and newer stuff. I like Manhattan too. Revelry and I Want You are good songs too as well as On Call.

Incubus is pretty good even though I am partial to their earlier stuff. Make Yourself was an excellent CD.

Of course, I have a spot spot for Boston. "More Than A Feeling" is a great song.

I forgot to put U2 in my list. My favorite song of theirs is Origin of the Species.

Offspring is pretty good as well.
Ehop

Hard to limit to ten, ask me tomorrow will come up with a new list.

Ooh Child - Five Stairsteps
Symphathy for the Devil - Stones
House of the Rising Sun - Animals
Iron Man - Sabbath
Tom Sawyer - Rush
Comfortably Numb - Floyd
Dont Fear the Reaper - BOC
Miami 2017 - Billy Joel
I Want to Break Free - Queen
Cats and the Cradle - Harry Chapin
devilsfan0405
This is always subject to change, depending on what mood I'm in on a given day but I could listen to these ten songs and never get sick of them:

This Is The Sea- Mike Scott And The Waterboys

Nights In White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon- The Moody Blues

Corduroy and Even Flow- Pearl Jam

Jumpin' Jack Flash- the Rolling Stones

Where The Streets Have No Name- U2

Chevaliers de Sangreal- Hans Zimmer (from the Da Vinci Code soundtrack)

Won't Get Fooled Again- The Who

The Long And Winding Road- The Beatles
