Quote from article..He said research has indicated low pressure troughs that could send a storm into New England are more likely to form when the Atlantic Ocean is warm and the Pacific Ocean is cooler than average and El Niņo is weakening.

i really cant imagine a hurricane any where near us, the damage in my town from that march storm was insane

It is going to happen one day.Could be this year or or could be 10 years from now,but we will get hit. When we do you can multiply(from the March storm) the power outages by atleast 4,and atleast 10x more trees and powerlines down, and add to that the storm surge(if hit at around high tide)that would destroy the flooding from the 92 Nor'easter. This would be from a CAT 1,don't even want to think about what a cat 2 would do.And you can't use past hurricanes likes Gloria,Belle,Carol,donna,38 and say the damage would be the same. The area is much more populated, more homes on the coast,so when one does head this way you can not expect the same damage as past storms!!

Experiencing another Hurricane is on my list of things I want to do before my time is up

"He said research has indicated low pressure troughs that could send a storm into New England"

Seems like this is a redundant statement every year.

I would not mind having a hurricane this summer up the east coast. It has been awhile since we have experienced one, so that helps. Some uprooted trees, power outages, high surf, flooding...ouch...some wild stuff indeed. Only thing with a hurricane is that everyone should take shelter, if needed and try not to ride the storm because hurricanes have taken peoples lives in, so all individuals needs to closely pay attention, if we do get one this summer. It is not a bad idea to start preparing for one just in case, or at least know what to do. Lets see what mother nature brings this summer up the east coast.

Well I'll tell you what. As long as your property and life is the only one that gets the problems a hurricane brings, we can have your hurricane.

unfortunately, mother nature cannot be so kind, but would be interested if that happened.

Some???? try thousands of trees and powlines, and atleast a million with out power

How would not having a hurricane hit in awhile help???I think just the opposite.Since we have not had a direct hit in 24 years most people have no idea of the damage it will cause here.Alot of people were saying the march nor'easter was like a hurricane, and that was not close to a hurricane.I keep saying it people are going to be very shocked by what the area is going to look like after our next hurricane hit.

Town and state officials say we are prepared. If you believe that then you are crazy. How do they know?have we been tested in the past few years?have they ran a drill with evacuations?how to respond afterwards?medical supplies?you can estimate how long an evacuation will take so we know how much lead time we need, but you really wont know until it has happened already. The only way to be prepared is if you have went through one.Yes we have but that the last was 24 years ago and alot has changed.

Is it wrong that I want to experience another hurricane before my time is up?some may say that. But im a weather junkie it is what I love,I love to witness mother nature!!I get excited when a severe weather event is threatning the area. It's a hobby I love.

Agreed 110%. Most people living here always have in their minds Hurricanes? hah yeah right, those only happen south of North Carolina.

One good thing might be maybe the bridge from the Long Island Sound to Westchester County will be built because it's impossible to evacuate Long Island as of right now.
