The way he was playing the other night and the way he looked around into the crowd while he was in huddles almost made me think he was playing under a death threat.

He was totally out of character in game 5. No one knows what is up in his head lately. I tend to think if Cleveland loses tonight he'll be talking seriously with the Knicks on July 1. Great game shaping up tonight.

Big win for the Celtics, but I can't believe how the Cavaliers appeared to give up in the last 90 seconds of that game last night. They were only down seven and didn't foul; they just let Boston run the clock down. When they got the ball back, there was no sense of urgency. Their point guard was just dribbling with the ball at the top of the key, not trying to get a quick basket. I know it's not always the coach's fault, but when a team gives up like that, it doesn't say much for him. I wonder if Mike Brown returns, not to mention the upcoming LeBron saga. This may be the type of loss that gives him impetus to leave and start over fresh somewhere else.

He should to chicago since they have better supporting cast then other teams. Rose, Noah, Deng, kirk and gibson. And they might sign joe johnson as well from Atlanta. so, if he cares about winning, thats the best team. If he wants money(endoresment) then Knicks. I wonder if he would come thru with pressure here in NY.

Quite personally I think LeBron effort diminished in Game 6 loss to Boston. His numbers were excellent (except the 9 turnovers) but near the end of that game he threw passes he knew he shouldn't throw. Well we'll see what happens with LeBron but I doubt Cleveland will be as good as contender next year, that GM spent loads of money for them to win this season and they couldn't get it done. My head tells me LeBron will either be in a Knicks or Nets jersey next season.
P.S. Expect the Knicks to get Chris Bosh this summer.

So supposedly Lebron has been looking at a place in the West Village. Hopefully that is so he can have a nice easy commute to Newark next year LOL. I can deam.
I have to lean towards the Bulls. I do think the Nets have a small chance. No one is giving the Knicks a chance but i wouldn't totally rule them out.

Well the Nets certainly made their pitch yesterday. It could not have gone better from what i've heard. At least they are well within the running.

I really have lost interest in the NBA for a long time, but this is the first story line that has interested me. I have to believe that the home town tug will ultimately prove stronger than any other factor.
Francesa had a very good point the other day about not needing NY or LA anymore to get huge publicity and huge visibility. The grand stage is now just about as grand anywhere because of the proliferation of media.
I would speculate that he will not only stay in Clev, but if possible cap wise, bring one of his Olympic buddies with him.

That's a great point. You don't need to be on or near Madison Avenue to get attention anymore. He's going to make untold millions regardless of where he plays and will still have a lot of media spotlight on him. Everyone knows who he is now and Cleveland isn't exactly a happening spot for celebrities. Taking that into consideration, the Knicks don't really have much else to offer. The supporting cast is mediocre. LeBron would definitely improve the team, but I still don't think they'd be championship caliber without a few more moves. He has a better supporting cast right now in Cleveland and still couldn't get it done, at least not yet.
I don't think he'll go to Chicago because he's constantly going to be compared to Michael Jordan. Unless he wins seven championships to one-up Michael, people will always say, "Yeah, LeBron was great but Jordan won more rings for us." I think LeBron wants to create his own legacy.

I still say Chicago. Forget about the Michael Jordan comparisons. Chicago gives him the best chance to win a championship. Solid nucleus of young players, including Derek Rose, and Noah. Maybe someone like Chris Bosh comes with LeBron. If LeBron is all about championships, then Chicago is the place to go. He didn't win with that supporting cast in Cleveland, and while other teams were saving cap space, Cleveland was spending it. He's been in the league for 7 years now, and within the next couple of years, he needs to win a championship. As much as I look at the individual numbers, I also look at the number of rings as well. Kobe, Jordan, even Dwyane Wade has a ring with Miami. Well, LeBron has zero rings. That Cleveland team, even if LeBron comes back is not enough to beat Kobe and the Lakers IMO.

I never even thought about the baggage of Jordan in Chicago. I suppose alot depends upon what is really driving him.
I suspect money is about even from any team and for endorsements regardless of where he lands.
If he is pure to the thought, he just wants to win an NBA title then, from what I have read (and per this thread) Chi would be his first choice.
However, if what he really wants is to be mentioned in conversation with true legends, he needs lots of rings and at this point, probably needs to weave a miracle tail. He needs to lift either a team like Clev, the nets or Knicks to a couple of titles. Chicago has been there, they have a legacy, they have a strong core today.
If he does prefer NYC, I have to believe his choice is the Nets because of the allure of the new building being the House of the King in Brooklyn. I cannot see a really compelling reason for him to choose the Knicks. That said, I still think Clev, if he thinks that the team can win is choice number 1. If they are already in salary cap hell and would doom him to 5 more years of almost, then he bolts.....and I put the Nets in second place.
Anyone know the state of the Cle cap situation?

i am so sick of this lebron talk. the NBA died out years ago. its now a bunch of overpayed thugs and cry babies. there are a few select players that play with heart, the rest are for money and sponsors. for once i would like to watch ESPN without 20mins of it being about lebron. sad how money plays a huge factor these days in NBA and MLB. NHL has a small cap where u can only give one player a huge deal, then u got a bunch of small ones. difference about the NHL with free agents is, if u got a superstar drafted, and he proves himself in first few years, no way in hell the owners and GMs are gonna have him hit the free agent market. they will offer them a franchise contract and keep them with the team to build around. NFL is gettin expensive contracts now which i hope dosent last long and a decent cap space gets back.

Well for me it's my favorite sport to play and because of that i relate to it differently. It's all just enterainment. There are plenty of good guys in the NBA. As with everything in life the bad apples ruin it. The NFL is just as bad it's just that they have a tighter cap.

The press coverage of this was truly unbelievable. I have never seen anything like it, even had his own little special, "The Decision". Talk about an ego booster.
And most people I talk to don't even like the NBA, and couldn't care less. However, I don't know how many times I heard ESPN say that there's never been so much interest in any free agency period and its getting full coverage 24 hours a day. Well that's because you're showing it, not because we all care THAT much.

I am pretty surprised by the move to Miami. It must be that winning is more important to James than getting the Jordan like star power. I have to believe that King James and the posse will be seen as the Yankees of baseball. Hated everywhere except in Miami. They have to win it all several years over or they will all be failures AND while they will get some front runners as fans, most will root for them to lose. Makes me dislike the NBA even more.

what i got out of it was in his own words... i did what was best for lebron. sure we all gotta do whats good for us but he has the blessing of being in a different position than many. he should be looking out for his fans not himself. agree with the fact that it wasn't that so many were interested, its just that they kept shoving it in our face, even other networks besides espn.

Dan Gilbert and LeBron James are both classless individuals. He did not need that hour long special. Have a press conference, and announce it there.
These are strong words from Cavs owner Dan Gilbert.
“LeBron James needs to go to another team with two superstars already so he can win a championship,” Gilbert said. “We will win a championship before (the Heat) do.”
