Hey everyone, I'm planning to go camping with a large group of people this weekend (May 21-24) and I need your weather forecasting advice. According to various weather sites online, Friday will be nice (around 80 and sunny) and Saturday/Sunday will have showers (~40% chance) and be slightly cooler. The campground is near Port Jervis, NY. I trust the forecasts of members of this forum more than the online sites happy.png , which is why I'm asking. In your opinion, will the weather be nice or rainy?

Some heavy showers rolled thru here a few hours ago. At one point it was raining very hard with a bright moon shining high in the SW sky at the same time. Would have been a heck of a sunshower right at mid day if it were daytime. Very strange to have blue sky so close while it was raining quite hard. Looks like some more showers building off the ocean and can roll in. But the real hvy rain potential is inland toward central Pa. where the trough and the tropical feed around the cutoff low/NE HP converge. For us the showery period potential is overnight into Sunday and then the high builds back west for sunny and warmer and warmer weather starting Monday.

I have missed the showers here, I am glad to say the sun is now shinning. Hopefully it will turn out to be a better day than forecast but the rain south of here over the ocean may cause problems later.

You'd get soaked from a shower here right now that is not even showing on radar because the rain drops are tiny and reflect poorly. But these showers are also brief.

Another heavy shower in progress here but almost nothing showing on radar.

Have had 4 or 5 downpours here today. Most last 10 minutes or less and they are all tiny trop like raindrops that immediately cut visibility very low - similar to blizzard like snow - and then when they end the surface air is pretty clear again. None of them have showed well on radar because of the tiny drops poor reflectivity.
