Actually it's been the exact opposite. Forecast temps for this week were originally low 80s with a cool shot into the 70s by today into the weekend. Reality - I have been above 85 since Sunday and > 87 the past couple days, today was 88F. Tomorrow and Sunday are both hot and sticky with temps approaching 90 tomorrow and 85 Sunday. The long advertised cool down finally shows itself for a few days next week but will be quickly reversed. That's the summer pattern we're headed into -- one w/ sustained warm/humid periods and very few cooler than average days.

I'm liking it. Pool temperature already 80 degrees. Only hit 80 degrees a few times last summer. Of course the fact I trimmed some trees also helped.

It's you as the exact opposite is true. Yesterday was 10-15 degrees higher than forecasted on Thursday and today will be the same and probably tomorrow too. What's more is the humidity is much worse than any forecast contemplated so the uncomfortablity factor is all the more greater than the temps. The whole week turned out to be much warmer than forecasted beacuse the GFS was really out to lunch putting the front that is still north of us down thru the Carolina's the whole week after Tuesday. All those forecasts for this week from last weekend were tied to that. Meanwhile if you used Euro guidance you knew the whole week, including today and tomorrow, was an 85-90 week, with low 90's on a few days inland. I doubt anyone on this board is in agreement with you.
BTW - the density of the trees and underbrush is greater this summer than any summer I've seen. So the CP thermometer is going to be even more off on the cool side than ever.

Uh, where do you live? I'm not in agreement with you. Up to 90 degrees now.
Yeah, I see a 2-3 day stretch of near-normal temperatures, before the heat ramps up again with a upper level ridge building over the Tennessee Valley.
Even the Euro Ensembles show this, as a trough builds into the Pacific Northwest, followed by a ridge over the Tennessee Valley. The ECMWF Ensembles keeps the heat locked through the end of next weekend. However even the 00Z GEFS Mean is in agreement with the Euro Ensembles.

I haven't been watching the news to see what the highs were for the day...maybe it just hasn't felt really oppressive like the dog days of august with the high humidity. Today is nasty i just wish it wasnt so overcast.

Where the heck do you live because that's exactly what it's been for the last 6-7 days save for maybe Wednesday when it was hot and dry. You've got everything about this weeks weather dead wrong.

Today is the worst day of the week by a long way. It's currently 90. 1 degrees and feels really tropical outside.

The only thing falling short is the precipitation, at least where I am. As of right now, it looks like this afternoon will remain dry also.

I thought we were supposed to have severe thunderstorms. Looking at the radar everything just breaks up as it heads to us. I'm surprised as I thought this heat and humidity would feed thunderstorms and make them stronger.

It's funny how all week the mets were saying, "Be on the lookout, today's the day" and it just hasn't materialized yet. Now I'm hearing tomorrow being hyped up in some circles for the possibility of severe weather.

We couldn't buy night swimming weather like this all last summer, but now we're getting it several nights in a row in late may early june. Remarkably warm tonight, 80 degrees and very humid at almost midnight. Feels like Florida.

We may have been in the pool yesterday more than ever before. We were in most of the afternoon and then again from 9 until about midnight. Late last night the air temp was 80.4 while the pool was 88.

Not to beat you up on this topic Wishcast, but i have had 8 staight days of 80+ temps, 7 of which were 86 or better, 89 yesterday, while my average high for the middle of July is only 84. Maybe you had some easterly breezes kick in on some of those days.

There haven't really been any. Coastal areas have also seen high temps all week. This threads topic makes absolutely no sense for about 99% of the area. The real joke is that his original temp shown on the day of the post had a temp that exceeded that days forecast.
