Canon is doing some super specials right now if anyone wants to upgrade to a digital SLR. Though I've been a Nikon person for life, I just bought my first Canon DSLR on Amazon. It's the new EOS rebel T2i and you can actually get the camera with the 18-55 lens and the 55-250 telephoto lens for $880. The EOS rebel T2i is an 18 mega pixel camera, plus it can take 1080P movies, but you wouldn't buy this camera for that feature as I'm sure it will kill the battery or overheat the camera if you ran too long a movie. On Amazon at least you get $200 off the 55-250 lens if you buy it in conjunction with the camera. If you buy just the camera and 18-55 lens it's $849 (free shipping) so if you add the zoom lens you are buying the telephoto lens for $31. A friend of mine has this camera and the pix quality is far superior to my Nikon D80.
