14 here. Only 3 more days to reach "average" for central NJ, 17.

A list of locations thus far for 90+ days through today. Ice - you're probably neck and neck with Philly and Newark since you had several low 90s when I was 88-89.

PHL: 21 (April: 0; May: 2; June: 15; Jul: 4)

Storm - you are way lower than me. I'm much more in line with Philly. I'm sure there's a bunch of near misses for you but what is real hard to understand is how you only have 1 more 90 degree day than Anthony, who's on the Brooklyn shore, prone to seabreezes much more easily and has been north of a lot of the late spring heat, and his temps should be more in-line with JFK, which is way different than monmouth county in spring and summer. Except for big snowstorms, I'm a terrible record keeper of weather stats so I really d'ont track this.

16 here and today did not make it four 100 degree days. Last year I had 10 the whole year with most of them coming midway thru August.

Ice, JFK (where Anthony takes his obs from) is usually much cooler than us as you said. But this year we've had virtually no sea breezes. Almost all of the 90+ days were on W/NW winds, keeping western Long Island hot. There were also one or two days w/ NWLY winds where JFK hit 90 and I was 89. The immediate coast tends to be hottest on NW winds.

Otherwise, the 4-5 days in early June were basically all 88s-89s for me, so that brings you up to 20 right there. It seems like a big difference between the two of us, but in reality it's probably a handful of days I was no more than 1-1.5 degrees cooler than you.

If I had known that this season had the potential to approach or break records, I would have counted the 90 degree days more accurately.

I believe I'm over 20 here too, like Ice.

Yesterday evening, News 12 posted a list that had New Brunswick at 23 to-date. The nearest Wunderground station to me, in Edison, has 24.
TatamyPA
I'm up to 13 90 or above days YTD.

Same here. When the first heatwave broke I never imagined we'd get so many 90 degree temps so close together. All I know is I'm in double figures. Not sure exactly how many though.

You should buy a weather station that keeps track for you. My davis vantage pro 2 counts the number of maxima 90+.

I thought this summer would be similar to the hot ones like 1988, 1995, etc, but so far it is actually hotter than those. In fact we're on track for the hottest summer on record if this keeps up.

I own one of these too. It is a great system to have. If you shop around on the web you can get one at a very reasonable price. I bought mine from a dealer in NJ and saved a lot off of list price.

Also I dont know if you vantage owners have the weatherlink software as well but it keeps track of everything.

Hit 85.4 for a high here today, most areas in the NYC area stayed in the 80s except Newark which hit 90. Newark seems to be the warmest place in the area, I was wondering if anyone knew where they get the readings from. Where ever it is I am sure there is plenty of cement. Not saying that is bad because Newark is full of cement. happy.png

Given the phenomenal heat of this summer, your area is certainly a great anomaly. Only 12 days over 87? That's amazing as this is on track to be the hottest summer ever across a great swath east of Chicago, and the heat looks unrelenting into August. Most of the time I'm past 87 by 11-12 noon.

What's your normal high? If you only have 12 days over 87 it would almost seem that you have are having an average temp summer.

Does this mean that we will have an indian summer, or an warm winter thanks to all these post 90+ degree days? I hope so.

The warmest my average gets is 82-60. I know i've talked about it before but on the whole NW nj doesn't get all that many 90+ each summer. Real hot summers we may get 10 or 12, cooler summer we can struggle to get one or two. This is just from my experience over the years. I don't have stats but if you check the past few months for Htown at twc.com i can back up my #'s for this summer and we know how hot it's been this summer. Of course as you head up to Wantage the #'s are usually even lower.

This is beyond a real hot summer. This is likely to be the hottest summer on record and probably will be the warmest spring and summer combined on record.

How about stretch that out. If September and October are warmer than normal (good chance Sept is I think), it'll probably be the warmest 6 month period on record, March-Sept or 7 months, March-Oct.

That's not too much of a surprise. Boston's average is 13.5 90 degree days, and just to their NW about 20 miles in the 500-1000 ft hills, averages drop significantly to about 3-5 90F annually. Probably same in our area. Average is 17-18 in the Trenton-NYC corridor, so maybe around 6-7 on average in your area.

Two more 90's here. 90.4 yesterday, 91.2 today. Tomorrow should hit 94-95 with a lot more humidity. I'm going to triple your season number just in July 90 degree days alone. NYC looks like a lock for the hottest month on record.

Per my station, yesterday was 86.5 and today was 88.3. I'm up to 23 days of 90F+ for the season, just 1 day greater than NYC, and way different than you.

Here's the updated list of area stations. Note the 88-89 degree days as well. I've got to count mine, but I probably have a lot like NYC.
