Starting in 2011—next year—the W-2 tax form sent by your employer will be
increased to show the value of whatever health insurance you are provided.
It doesn't matter if you're retired. Your gross income WILL go up by the amount
of insurance your employer paid for. So you’ll be required to pay taxes on a larger
sum of money that you actually received.

That is not true.
The value will appear on employees’ W-2 forms for information purposes, but will not be considered taxable income.

does putting the value itself on the docs do something to the company's bottom line? why the exact value as apposed to yes/no the named employee is insured? will it make the employers drop insurance plans? don't know, just wondering.

If all the folks that have their health insurance paid for by someone else, had to pay for it out of their own pockets, we would have had national health insurance a long time ago.

Virginia judge declares health care mandate unconstitutional. Battle likely to go all the way to the Supreme Court.
