Well at least this winter is consistent...even to the bitter end!

This is a very convective storm and it's mid March. You can't just read where the 540 line is and think that's all there is to it. Dynamics look to be incredible with this storm and it can easily be hvy snow on the right side of the 540 line.

Absolutely correct. I think people are over-estimating the sleet and under-estimating the snow with this system.

Robbbs - someone is going to get crushed in this storm and I think you have one of the best shots. But nothing will surprise me with this storm.

Ice, I think the cliche that there will be some surprises is more fitting with this system than any I can remember in recent memory. The 00z NAM goes nuts with the coastal and continues to show incredible dynamics and huge precip totals. Precip intensity and the calendar may really make this system unusual. Furthermore, the backlash of the system may bring heavy snows even to the coast and for those that missed out, as late as Saturday pm/evening. The storm dynamics are really impressive.

I'd like to see the 00z GFS and then respond. However, I think people are over-doing the sleet versus snow scenario.

on a positive note we all remember how dc switched to heavy snow when the dynamics were right.  only problem here is I see a +2 level in the 800 area, but I guess anything can happen
