SUMMER WILL COME NEXT WEEK PER JB

  SUDDENLY "IT'S SUMMER" PATTERN DEVELOPS NEXT WEEK IN NORTHEAST.

It's over after this weekend; finally spring will come full bore into the Northeast and Lakes and the same places that will be using heat and scraping frost perhaps this weekend will be using air conditioning the middle and latter part of next week. In fact, the first 90-plus readings of the season could get into the big Northeast cities next week, but not until another week of normal to below normal gets through. I am convinced the siege of below-normal months in this area is done.

I will believe it when ch. 7, and NOAA, and atleast AW show it. I know AW did show temps in the mid 80s (actually 85) for May 12th for the Bronx, but now they changed it back to like 75.

If we didn't get some 90 degree days, it wouldn't be summer. LOL. Don't complain.

The heat isn't bad, I just don't like the oppressive humidity.

Agree with JB completely. If it were late June or July we'd be talking 100+. Won't be surprised if we get to 95+ as it is. Plus it will be warm to hot in a very widespread area.

Last week, I observed some scattered predictions of 80+ for today (May 1) but the warm front never got close (fortunately..... if you dislike heat that is).  Hoping it does not get too hot this early in the season.

What day is this heatwave looking to come to NYC? Are yall sure, since those models be hyping things and when its a one week to a few days away it decides to show temps 5 to 15 degrees cooler than what was forecasted.

Some warm temps would be nice. Low this mornings was a damp 48.5.

I guess those hot temps aren't happening now...look at my 15-day.  A high of 58 on May 16.

Historically cool Canadian highs that come in from central Canada (not backdoor ones) become heat pumps about 4-5 days later. Synoptics look good for this weekend's high to become a heat pump starting around Tuesday. JB is looking at model synoptrics and his typical analogs to predict that heat and I can see it easily. May 15 - that forecast and EZ Pass will get you thru a toll.
