Temps will plummit tonight under clear skies and very light winds.
On March 3, 2007, I recorded a morning low of 32.2 degrees while LGA (a few air miles away) recorded a low of 48. The winds were light & variable out of the SW all night and skies were crystal clear overnight. It was just up until a few days ago that it dawned on me that because there is a very large swath of open space (Kissena Park & Golf Course, Flushing Cemetary and St. Mary's Cemetary) just to the SW of my house, that on a SW wind (light enough to promote ideal radiational cooling though) is how I have those big swings in morning lows with other urban areas to my west. My area and into more eastern sections of Queens resembles LI moreso than NYC with respect to climate.
Down to 56.9 here after a high of 71.3
Here's a map of the area, i cannot put a dot on my house bc it's google maps but I am just to the NE of all the open areas, so a SW wind is where we would see freezing road conditions on otherwise mild nights in the more urban areas.
