Now making a call for a change to rain in the city and along the coast with 3-6 inches - odd they made an amount call so soon...
I hope I am dead wrong on this but my sense is that once we have a call for a changeover to rain very rarely does this not happen...
This looked so good earlier...
NittanyLion
ooo it still does up here  ;D

1010 wins just stated that changeover will take place by "dawn" in NYC on Weds... They are bullish on this changeover and I for one hate it but also find it hard to believe they will bust on the side of rain....

Remember Summer's rule when the mets say change to rain... take it to the bank.... I pray I am wrong I want 15 inches by weds night... just think the models have been turning against...

summer they sais SLEET i just hears it about 2minutes ago unless they made a change that fast also 3-6 is the SAFE call!!!
sportsjoe86
the thing is 1010 gives no reason, they are soley basing their froecast on the majority of the models. Henry did a good job of explaining. and Dt's map is wrong, 2-7'' in NW Jersey w/ ice? LOL

Snowfreak...
Unless I heard wrong - they were calling for a changeover to rain, yes after a call for 3-6 inches which I stated when I first started this thread... they have not changed this.... my point is that they are being bullish for giving a timeframe on a changeover and yes even in giving amounts out this far from the event
Weatherfanatic89
it is totally unrealistic to base a forecast on just one timeset of model runs here is what i see to be looking more realistic attm.

Yep, both 880 and 101 said 3-6 with changeover to all rain.
Oh well.

whether it's rain or sleet who cares?  bottom line is - it's not snow which is what everyone wants.  it's obviously a concern and it looks like a tight cut-off at this point.  when the coast mixes that puts us in great shape for heavier snows to the N+W so at this point I'm not complaining with that set-up.

Satellite,
The trend has been all day to move the rain/snow line inland...
Talking changeover at the coast...
