I agree, although my brother n law who lives in Santa Monica,  may have something to say about it. He thinks the east coast is a prime target for a major hurricane.  He likes his chances out on the left coast. LOL.

If thats the case, he acts like the west coast can't get a hurricane in California. Heck they always get the pounding rains before we do, since those storms flow from the Pacific into the main land.

The both the west and east coast have their advantages of living the areas. On the west coast the ridges always form there, and bring the santa ana winds. Dangerous winds. On the east, we get the Bermuda High bringing in the H,H, and humid weather.
