Amazing late day storms yesterday. This looks much worse than Brooklyn and was a lot more widespread. The ominous cloud video is really something and seems to show the advance of the storm without an advancing anvil cloud. Usually the advancing anvil is your darkening sky warning of a storm coming. The lack of an advancing anvil may be why folks in one of the videos describe the weather going from calm to fury instantly. You can see the rain cut visibility to zero right under that cloud as it advances to the lakefront. In this system you went from no rain to deluge instantly. Reminds me of Myrtle when there was a deluge 10 feet in front of my truck while it was bone dry at the back of my truck. It also certainly looks like there may have been enbedded tornado touchdowns in this supercell storm.
Don't miss the ominous storm cloud covers Chicago video! It is the silent one.
