Currently moving through Lyndonville, Vermont. Was walking and there was a very close CTG bolt right over the college with the loudest thunder I have ever heard in September even in NY. Dark skies to my north with constant thunder.
One thing I have noticed is that the high mountains in this area really screw up radar, making storms look less impressive.

While the storms missed us here by a few miles (wow seems like Newton, NJ), we still had great views of the storms off in the mountains. Not a drop of rain here but 1" size hail and 2" of rain reported in Sheffield and Wheelock.

Nittany--Imagine an imaginary line from Sutton to East Haven, they got crushed within the past hour, and radar showed barely anything. The mountains ruin radar and it sucks bc you could really be caught offguard up here. Do you know Rt 114 N as you head toward Island Pond? The storm crossed 114 in East Haven and they got rocked..meanwhile, loud thunder continues here; I have to head over to Met Lab...what did you do in Met Lab today Nitt??
BTW Nitt, my friend said Burke Mountain got struck twice!! Good thing we didn't decide to drive up today, LOL!

John- Tilt the radar elevation angle and you can see it on radar much better!
http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast...mp;avg_off=9999More storms firing to our west and north, probably going to miss us. Another one to our south, see what happens there.
Haha we did a lab on maps in there today.

Lab--get used to it; LOL!! The wx up here is going to get more interesting as we get closer and closer to winter...
BTW--Three cells headed right for Lyndonville right now.
http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast...mp;avg_off=9999Edit: Three cells merged into two strong ones. Right on Lyndonville's doorstep; thunder getting louder.

Got absolutely pounded here in Lyndonville. Got most of the storm on video! Incredible lightning and ear-piercing thunder along with with very nice wind gusts (around 40mph-50mph) and heavy rain, some flooding on campus.

sat only problem is if you let them slide others will do the same. Than the board will become cluttered with snow falling in alaska threads.

it has nothing to do with leeway or being strict. just keeping the forums organized. there is a us weather discussion section for a reason.
let's leave it at that and keep the discussion to weather

I disagree. There was no reason to move this thread; it's not like we were discussing weather in Oregon...the weather we got up here was associated with the same front moving through NY/NJ tonight but whatever.

Brett, Why not start a North East Thread? Could help add members, Nit and John can have Tee shirts made up to advertise it.

that's actually not a bad idea. the in question front connecting jersey and vt. runs from maine to southern states...so where would the boundry end? i think perhapse a separate northeast threads would be coo.

???, you can say that with every state. Sooner or later the storm will make it the east coast ::) . Nothing against you and nittany but come winter time this place will get busy with posts on this area alone. I dont understand why you just cant post in this section. When I saw your thread the other day I assumed tsorms were coming in our ny area, than I opened the thread and I was like wtf. Its just makes it a little confusing,
