Since my temp have hardly moved the last 3 hours because of this sneaky low level air, do you think that we will see any heavier bands before the change to sleet.Im in Queens/Nassau border..Im still sitting at 23 F

Whether or not you will see sleet will not depend solely on the temperature at the surface. For example, at the higher level of the atmosphere, precip may start out as snow.....it may then enter the middle levels of the atmosphere, which are above freezing, and melt to rain...and finally, the precip may enter the lower level of the atmosphere where it is below freezing and refreeze to freezing rain/ice, etc. One has to look at the entire atmosphere when determining what type of precipitation may fall.

Mrsnow - I think you have another few hours before a change to sleet there. Warmer air is beginning to penetrate the 850mb level of the atmosphere from SW to NE - IP being reported near Trenton and Philly right now. Still snow here in Monmouth county. Points further NE will stay snow the longest (NYC-Long Island) due to the orientation of this ML warm front.
All coastal areas should be above freezing by evening hours.

Sleet is the worst if you want the day off from school as a student or as a teacher. Need either good amount of snow, or freezing rain. Sleet is just mush.
