what time does the heavier precip get here and will nw nj see alot of ice.

that area of precip is moving fast, could get here at like 10:00. I'm holding steady at 24°. this reminds me of (cringe) the Valentines Sleet storm last year, they were predicting freezing rain and it just stayed sleet (which actually is better). i have a feeling were in for a sleet storm again... unless of course the temp starts to go up

The set is nothing like the valentines day storm.
it will be a race between the precip getting here and the warmer air taking hold. the whole key is to keep the winds light, if the winds start to increase out of the south, you will see a rapid rise in temps.
I do agree with you, sleet is much much bette than ice, we dont want power outages from freezing rain but wow that precip is heavy!!!!!!!!

guys forget about it. that heavy batch is rain in western pa and by the time it gets here it will be warm enough for rain. maybe poughkeepsie gets some freezing rain but it's probably too heavy to freeze. move on to the next storm. our chances for snow were earlier in the day.
