Only 30 mph here, but the west is not my best direction! I have some blockage from 270-280 degrees. I'm completely open elsewhere.

Surprising - my highest gust was 40mph again today. I would've thought Robbbs on a 1000ft mountain would record some 50+mph gusts in this event.

Storm am I correct that your anemometer is in an open field about 11 feet above the ground, with no interference from trees? Of coarse that would explain those nice wind gusts you reported. I wish I had little interference but not the case.

33mph was the highest here and it came to day with a snow squall

Storm, actually my elevation is 1100'. However, I'm on the southeast facing side of a heavily wooded hill that extends to 1200'. Therefore, my location is somewhat sheltered from winds coming from the west to northwest. My peak gust of 38 mph was actually pretty high versus the following peak gusts from reliable stations in northwest NJ -- High Point (not the summit but at an elevation of 1348'): 30,  Wantage (1001'): 36,  Sussex Airport (420'): 31,  Andover Airport (581'): 26, Newton (748'): 29.

My highest gust was 32 MPH here in Cornwall NY. The winds made it seem like the temps were in the negatives. My ears nearly fell off.

Robbbs, winds were much stronger as you head closer to the coast. Belmar - in SE Monmouth county, recorded a 52mph gust yesterday and 44mph gust today. But they're within a couple miles of the shore whereas I'm 15+ miles from it.

Storm -- yes, apart from perhaps a local thunderstorm cell or squall or the very highest summits, the coast always beats inland on winds.

yeah i've always said i very very rarely get high winds whether up in wantage or here.  30+ would be unusual for me, nevermind 40+.
