I would say average size 250ibs. The cubs will probably leave mom by early to mid summer. They stay with her for 1.5 years and those in your yard are yearlings. Great shots. I also have a hard time getting wildlife shots. Im better with landscape/scenary pictures.
I bet that fox has a den close by. You should go look for it. Usually the parents take turns guarding the den as the kits play outside.

I had bear take my garbage a few weeks ogo and my dog chased a cub up the tree last week in the yard. Today hiking I spooked 2 cubs and mom. They were about 20 yards from me.

This guy was in the yard Yesterday in the pouring rain. not a good pic. I was calling him Yogi, trying to get him to lift his head but it didnt work. And go ahead and call me a wimp, but I didnt want to get any closer. LOL

Then I barely tapped the window after I shot the other pix thru and she heard it and sprung up at once in defense.

lab94

No one NJ has ever been killed by a bear and the people who have been attached (if you want to even call it that) provoked the bear in some way. I have encountered bears hundreds of times and some times within feet of them. Not once did the bear show any sign of aggresion. The most they do is bluff charges. That can be scary but at the last minute they turn around. They are like any wild animal. I would be more worried about people then bears.

not advocating lab go rambo or anything llke that, just can't reason with the bear if the human does do something to provoke. i crossed a deer(buck) the wrong way once and for a spit second i thought he was going to charge, but a slide away slowly.

Oh cr@p,already made a rug aou of him shifty.gif LOL kidding.

I am more worried about the coyote thats running around then the bears. Of cource I tell the kids to stay away from all of the animals.
