This seems like a good show. I saw the Barrow, AK one last week. It may still be on. If you google it you may be able to watch online too i don't know. Just figured i'd mention it since TWC otherwise sucks and sometimes something good can slip through the cracks.

Saw that also inadvertently last Saturday. Can you believe that t-shirt guy - working in just that in -5 to -50 degree cold the entire 10 month winter up there. Unlike Fairbanks, Barrow tends to be quite windy. Just as amazing was his 80 year old mother (who looked more like 62 or so) walking around in a light sweater while Cantore was in a parka and a bunch of thermals underneath. I also think I'll pass on the ocean front real estate up there. There's certainly no hurricane threat so insurance will be low. Unfortunately you only know there's an ocean there if you have a map that tells you so. They also seem to have deeper snows than I'd have expected. Year round average temps of 10 degrees with snow possible in any month of the year - perfect climate for Terry. Finally the fact that homes have to be built on stilts because their heat would make them sink never dawned on me. Imagine having -50 cold under your bottom floor. It's amazing that anyone lives in that climate.

The t-shirt guy was unreal. Just goes to show - mind over matter. Your body can adjust to almost anything. I think it applies to a lot of other things too but i won't go off on a tangent right now LOL. Very cool show though and, as you mentioned, they brought up a lot of things you would never otherwise think about.

Sat,

I must have a weak mind or weak matter. I couldn't handle today's 36 degrees very well with a heavier shirt walking thru a Walmart parking lot in blazing sunshine. I abhor taking a coat into any store with me. I'd rather be cold for a minute or two than wearing a coat in a 75 degree store for half an hour or the mall for hours. But as I walked thru that parking lot I could'nt even imagine how that guy handles -25+ cold in a tee shirt for hours day after day.

Here's the link to show on the net (just wait to the commercial ends) for anyone wants to spend 20 minutes watching. It's well worth it.

I also saw part of that show, it was good. I don't know how anyone can live year round in a place like that. I think I would be on the first supply plane on the way out.

All I can day is WOW! That one place I'll never see up close. In fact just watching that makes me have the chills.

You had to love the guy taking golf tee shots on the frozen tundra in -25 degree air while someone was sledding right behind him. Never did I think golf and sledding would occur on the same spot at the same time.
